We at Purple Rope Adventure School are excited to offer “Swim with the Salmon Tours” This amazing adventure involves swimming and floating down the beautiful lower Campbell River. Along the way, you'll have the chance to witness harbor seals, sea lions, and many beautiful birds that call the river home.
Of course, the highlight will be observing the incredible salmon as they return to spawn, completing their life cycle in the Campbell River which is renowned as the Salmon Capital of the World. We can't wait to share this unique and unforgettable experience with you!
Swim with the Salmon Tours

Length: 2.5 Hours (including picking up gear and shuttling)
Location: The Campbell River in Campbell River, BC
Dates: Monday-Saturday.
Cost: Adults (16+) $95 (+$50 Gear Rental Fee)
Kids (10-15) $70 (+$50 Gear Rental Fee)
Timing: 9:30am-12pm*, and 2pm-4:30pm*
*Tide dependent
Minimum 1 adult required
PRAS can provide transportation for up to 4 guests at an additional cost of $15/person.

Our experienced guides will provide instruction on how to swim and navigate the dynamic river environment safely, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
You'll also have a knowledgeable guide readily available to answer any questions you might have about the ecosystem, the salmon, or the surrounding area.
Most importantly, your guide will be there to support you and assist with any challenges that may arise during the tour.
They will also help with the shuttle logistics, making your adventure seamless from start to finish.

About the Founder:
Shawn Quinton
As the Founder of Purple Rope Adventure School, I bring 30 years of experience as a guide and an outdoor educator, so in those 30 years, I've cultivated a deep passion for the natural world. One of my greatest joys is sharing the beauty of nature with others through outdoor experiences. Throughout my career, I have developed and led activities such as rock climbing, caving, canoeing, sea kayaking, navigation, outdoor leadership, hiking, and out-tripping.
I hold the following certifications:
Top-rope Climbing Guide with PCGI
Sea Kayak Guide Level 3 with SKGABC
90-hour Wilderness First Aid and CPR C
Paddle Canada Canoe Instructor
Nordic Ski Instructor CANSI
OCC Instructor in Hiking, Paddling, Winter, Navigation and Overnights
Genoa Horsthius
Meet Genoa! Her main role in PRAS is an outdoor guide with a specialty in climbing. Genoa has been an avid outdoor enthusiast since she was a kid, loving canoeing, climbing and summiting mountains. She has completed various outdoor milestones, such as gaining her PCGI Top Rope Instructor certification in 2025 and worked with kids in an outdoor children’s wilderness camp for over 7 years as an Assistant Rock Climbing Director. She loves to encourage others to seek out new outdoor adventures, and make sure they have the correct tools in their wilderness belt to do so.
Phillip Quinton
Phillip has been working outdoors for over 10 years doing various activities such as Rock Climbing, Caving, Hiking, Canoeing. He has also worked at a children's wilderness camp for the last 8 years helping lead activities such as Rock Climbing, Low Ropes, Archery, and Orienteering. He has a passion for helping bring people outdoors so they can safely have fun out in the wilderness. His main role at PRAS is Outdoor Guide and Secretary/Website Technician.
He holds the following Certifications:

Lifesaving Society-First Aid/CPR-C
Paddle Canada-Intermediate Lake Water Skills Tandem Instructor
